PAGADIAN CITY— The Zamboanga del Sur Maritime Institute of
Technology (ZSMIT) is just moving and holding its regular classes at its new
rented premises, said Capt. Rene A. Maglasang, president.
Maglasang issued this statement after the ZSMIT administration decided to transfer from its old school premises in Brgy. Balangasan.
He added that their new location is now at the Tan Building
in Brgy. Santiago, near the port area of this city where they held their
classes there since Monday, March 20.
Maglasang clarified their move was “to vacate peacefully”
following the issuance of an eviction notice against them from a local court.
He added the transfer included ZSMIT’s location only but the
school’s management and administration is still under his leadership.
He firmly denied as false the rumors that said ZSMIT is
being managed now by the Our Lady of Triumph Institute of Technology, Inc. (OLT
Inc.) based in Ozamiz City.
He explained ZSMIT school properties represented by him and
his other brothers were loaned at the Land Bank of the Philippines (LBP) in
1995 and were later foreclosed.
The Philippine Distressed Asset Asia Pacific (PDAS) redeemed
the said school properties and sold last August 4, 2016 to OLT, Inc.
represented by its President Lucile A. Maglasang.
Last March 2, this year, a local court granted an issuance
of writ of possession in favor of OLT and a following writ of possession issued
by RTC Branch 21 of this city was issued
by Judge Benjamin R. Lanzaderas.
The writ of possession placed the properties of ZSMIT to OLT
and gave authority of the latter to “eject the present occupants and
all adverse occupants who are deriving their interest from ZSMIT.”
Maglasang said students may not worry of the sudden transfer
of their school premises, adding they can continue their studies peacefully in
their new location.
